Meet Dr. Steven Dickens

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out Star Orthodontics! We’re all about creating amazing smiles—and doing it in the most efficient, stress-free way possible. I’ve been part of the Star Ortho family since 2008, and I still get just as excited about helping patients transform their smiles as I did on day one.

I earned my DDS with Distinction in 2003, then went on to complete my orthodontic residency and Master’s degree at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!). Giving back is a big part of who I am, which is why I started a scholarship program that provides braces at no cost to kids who really need them. I truly believe that when a child feels good about their smile, it boosts their confidence and helps them be the best version of themselves. Being a part that is the best part of what I do.

My amazing wife, Liz, and I have lived in Matthews since I joined the practice.  Our four kids keep us on our toes in the best way. We love spending time as a family together and spending time with our extended families.  We travel, go to games (we're big fans of the Tar Heels, Panthers, and Hornets), and concerts. Personally, I enjoy running and was able to complete the NYC Marathon with Liz! I also have a big love for photography and hope one day to match the skills of my grandfather and my great-uncle—who just so happens to be a Pulitzer Prize winner.
