Thanks for taking the time to check out our practice! My name is Dr. Steve Dickens, but you can call me Dr. D. I’ve been with Star Orthodontics since 2008 and I absolutely love creating beautiful, healthy smiles for my patients.
I received my DDS degree with Distinction in 2003 then completed my orthodontic residency and Master’s degree all from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!). Giving back to our community is extremely important to me, which is why I launched a local chapter of the national non-profit organization “Smile for a Lifetime.” Through this program, we get to provide braces at no cost to disadvantaged children, and I am so thankful to be in a profession that not only provides kids with healthy, brand new smiles, but also boosts their self-esteem and makes them feel better about themselves.
I currently live in Matthews with my wife, Liz, and our four unique, challenging and amazing children. We love spending time together as a family, especially traveling and cheering on the Tar Heels, Panthers and Hornets. Liz and I have completed many races together, including the NYC Marathon, which I am extremely proud of. I’m also very passionate about photography, and I hope to someday be as good as my Pulitzer Prize winning uncle.
I truly love people and taking care of them, and I do everything possible to treat my patients and staff with kindness, respect, and compassion. I will always take the time to explain your treatment options or cover any questions or concerns you have, so please don’t hesitate to ask. I look forward to giving you the healthy, beautiful smile you deserve!
